SLO County Progressives Monthly Meeting

August 24 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

aug-meeting

Join us for an end of summer Action Workshop & Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 24th from 6pm to 8pm at the SLO Guild Hall!

Looking for a way to make a meaningful impact in your community, in our State, and in our Nation? Come learn what each of the SLO County Progressives’ issue-based working groups are working on, take part in an action item, and sign up to join a group! We invite you to show up, and get plugged in!

Citizens Congress and the SLO County Progressives’ Campaign Finance Reform working group is hosting an ice cream social to STAMP MONEY OUT OF POLITICS!

Have you heard of the Stamp Stampede movement? The Stampede is a mass, sustained demonstration against big money in politics and voter suppression. With already over 75,000 people all across the country stamping their cash with the Stampede, this people-powered grassroots campaign is a striking visual display of the growing demand in this country to change how our elections are funded and how big moneyed groups influence government policies at the expense of “We the People.”

Here’s how our workshop will work:
– Bring some paper currency to the meeting
– We’ll have stamps available for you to STAMP your own currency.
– Send your stamped currency back out into regular circulation by spending it just how your normally would. (You can start by purchasing an ice cream cone for a $2 suggested donation!)
– Every bill you stamp will be seen by, on average, 875 people! Now that’s how you spread the word about campaign finance reform!

We’re excited to see you!

This is a FREE event, open to the community. Ever thought about joining the SLO County Progressives movement? Curious to see what we’re all about? Our general meetings are a great place to start!
